MISSION OVERVIEW

MISSION STATEMENT

A multiplayer server dedicated to DCS World Community A4-E-C Skyhawk pilots. The server will try to fulfil the following criteria:

  • VR Friendly
  • Vietnam Era Specific
  • Mission Status via Website (this site)
  • Always Free

MISSION OBJECTIVE

Pilots are to destroy as many enemy targets (AI) as possible during a 12 hours mission session. Pilots may fly multiple sorties during a mission. The scores from all sorties during a mission are added for pilot's total score for a mission. Scores are only credited when the pilot successfully lands at a friendly airbase or aircraft carrier. Pilots current sortie status is displayed on this site's home page.

Enemy targets include ground assets, naval vessels, and aircraft. Pilots will score points for each enemy target destroyed ("Kills"). A target's strategic value ("Points") are determined by number of factors:
  • Target Distance - Deep strike targets are higher points
  • Threat Level - Higher threat level targets are higher points
  • Fortification - Heavily guarded targets are higher points
Targets can be located using this website or the F10 map. Top scores are displayed on this site's score page.

Ground assets include airbase storage, industral area storage, convoys, anti-aircraft sites, early warning radar (EWR) sites, and SAM-2 missile sites. High ROI target sites are found at enemy airbases and industrial facilities. Coastal airbases are heavliy guarded by AAA, CAP (Combat Air Patrol), and SAM-2 sites.

Naval ships are in enemy harbors. Harbor ships are protected by both AAA and armed speed boats.

Enemy aircraft include CAP (Combat Air Patrols), CAS (Close Air Support), Intercept, and Recon. Pilots are recommended to use fighter jets to engage enemy aircraft.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

Apocalypse DCS is predominately a PVE (Player vs. Environment) server with an abundance of static targets allowing for many strike mission scenerios. Red team does have MIG 21 available for PVP (Player vs. Player) dogfights and strike missions.

Although the A4-E Skyhawk is the highlighted module on the server, pilots can also choose the following aircraft:

  • F4 Phantom - Blue Coalition
  • F5 Tiger- Blue Coalition
  • A10-A Warthog - Blue Coalition
  • C-101CC Aerojet - Blue Coalition
  • MIG21 Fishbed - Red Coalition
The A10-A Warthog is under review since it is not period correct (Vietnam Era - Late 1960s to Early 1970s). New Flaming Cliffs verions of F5 Tiger and Mig 19, as well as full fidelity Mig 19 are being considered.

DEEP STRIKE TARGETS

Deep strike target information can be found on the last pages of your kneedboard. These targets are typically harbors and/or production facilities. The kneedboard pages will show navigation and target score values.

Naval assets are found conentrated around enemy ports. Not all naval assets will score points, since some are just static objects for eye candy. Static objects and targets can be determined using the F10 map.

Pilot scoring informaiton is found on the score page of this website.

BATTLE FRONT

The battle front is the village of Vishnevka (44°00'25"N; 39°11'36"E), located south of the Port of Tuapse (Red) and noth of the Port of Sochi (Blue). A4 pilots can depart from any Blue airfield, however, Sochi and aircraft carrier Roosevelt are best stituated to expidite to battle field. A4 pilots are also encouraged to engage in deep strikes, especially enemy airfields and airfield assets (planes, tanks, APC). Use A4 kneepad to find enemy airfield and deep strike target coordinates.

AAA DEPLOYMENT

The primary nemesis for A4 pilots were hidden AAA in the jungles of Vietnam. There are 22 AAA units that are deployed randomly to 40 AAA zones at the start of each mission. Within 2 hours, all AAA units will be deployed. AAA zones can have more than 1 AAA units.

...
All AAA units are ZU-23 mounted on URAL-375 trucks.

Red AAA units are found in the West territory. This area includes Maykop airbase and all Red territory west of Maykop airbase. New pilots are recommended to avoid this area and focus and targets in the East territory.

The AAA units are NOT displayed on the F10 map, however can be seen using labels like all other units.

IRON BOMBING RANGE

There is a iron bombing range based on SideKick's Iron Bombing Range mission (42°05'51"N; 41°47'42"E). The iron range is setup and located just like the training videos provided by SideKick.

The iron bombing range is for practice only and does not score any poinits.

ADDITIONAL MODS

Like the DCS World A4-E-C community mod, Apocalypse DCS A4 Server is designed to be enjoyed using free software (DCS World - Free Version and A4-E-C Community Mod). Since the A4 is a carrier based aircraft, the Supercarrier is in the mission and can be used for free, but the DCS World Supercarrier module is necessary to interact with the carrier fligh deck crew.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS AND UPDATES

Remember to always check for current versions for DCS World (Steam and Standalone) and A4-E-C community mod (Github). Apocalypse DCS A4 Server runs on the current open beta version of DCS World.

MISSION END

The mission currently restarts every 12 hours as Beta development still continues.
